We are happy to announce a partnership between Andovar and the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA). Based in the center of Marseille in France, the IMGA is well-known for organizing mobile gaming awards since 2004. This year for the first time, the IMGA launches a Southeast Asian edition, the IMGA SEA, which will culminate with an award ceremony at Level Up event in Kuala Lumpur, 5-9 November 2016. As part of the partnership, Andovar will provide Thai, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese and Indonesian localization of the new mini-site IMGA Southeast Asia to make it more accessible to talented mobile game developers from across the region.

As we wrote in more detail in an earlier blog post, Southeast Asia is the world’s fastest growing region for mobile games. It is home to a young population (70% under 40) of over 600 000, fast-rising internet connectivity (especially mobile) and internet economy expected to surge to a massive $200 billion annually within ten years. In 2015, mobile revenues accounted for nearly half of the $1.4Bn Southeast Asian games market according to a white paper by Newzoo; and by 2017, mobile revenues alone will approach $1.3Bn, growing at an impressive CAGR (2013-2017) of +56%. Six countries in Southeast Asia are responsible for the lion’s share of the region’s mobile gaming market and for nearly 90% of the population. They are: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Andovar has headquarters in Singapore and the largest production office in Bangkok, Thailand placing us right in the center of this mobile gaming revolution. We provide not only translation into all languages of the region and beyond, but also collateral services such as localization testing on different devices, audio recording for games and full localization of websites and marketing materials. While all countries in the region are familiar with English as a language of international business and popular culture, actual fluency varies by country. English First’s English Proficiency Index shows the differences clearly.

To submit your game for consideration at the 1st IMGA SEA, go here. The competition is free and open to mobile games studios, indie developers and publishers from Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan for games published between May 2015 and May 2016 or yet to be published. After an online preselection, the panel will select the winners during the final judging session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in early November. Winners will be announced on 8th November and listed online on IMGA’s website.
